Early Beginnings
I grew up in a remote wilderness town, 500 miles from the nearest road system. Out there, survival means working hard to make your own luck. Mom and dad had the courage and resolve to start multiple businesses. From 5 years old I worked every summer in them, learning the founder's journey from start up to scale up. Business wasn't just business, it was survival.
26 Years of Experience
Over the past 26 years as I've worked all over the world growing my own companies and coaching CEOs and founders, I noticed a troubling pattern: while many leaders start well and some do figure out how to continue well, very few actually make it to the finish line successful. Going by the official numbers, only 1/3 stay on the course to success. Added to that, most ventures that they lead also fail.
The Turning Point
"Someone has to do something about this!" My turning point came 15 years ago, when I realized we were losing more leaders than we kept, and most businesses fail. Somebody has to act! I'm by no means the only one, but I knew it was my mission. So, I committed to change the numbers on leader and business survival. I certified as a coach, got my post-grad in leadership development, and began helping leaders to change course toward finishing well.

Over the past 26 years David has served as Director on several boards, founded companies, and served as a Chief Executive growing a manufacturing company exporting to 40+ countries.
As a certified leadership coach and mentor for 16 years David has coached, mentored, and developed teams around the world. His practical and data-driven approach uses over 150+ resources in a tool-based approach to increase clarity, focus, and deliver rapid and efficient solutions.
While David holds a Master’s in Global Leadership from Fuller Graduate School, his most valuable education is every minute working shoulder to shoulder with others in their businesses. This began just over 40 years ago at age 5, working with his parents to start and grow their rural small businesses. From commercial fishing to transportation to property development, his childhood school-of-hard-knocks MBA taught him a strong work ethic, a belief in the power of innovation, and a relentless commitment to help others build their ventures and succeed.

Many people can spot a need and say, “someone should do something about this!”
The leader, the entrepreneur, sees that same gap and say “ I will do something about this,” then does whatever it takes to make something new in the world.

Going by the official numbers, only 1/3 stay on the course to success. In any given room of leaders, the odds are that 2/3 are probably already headed in the wrong direction in some fundamental way.
This preventable problem leads to significant unnecessary losses: great ventures end up failing, good products and services cease, unemployment, strains on family, not to mention impact to the wider community and investor losses. With most businesses failing before their 10th birthday, we’re losing way more than we keep.

I committed to change the numbers on leader and business survival. I certified as a coach, got my post-grad in leadership development, and began helping leaders to change course toward finishing well. Leading for good is everything to me. Leading with excellence, for the good of people, to contribute something meaningful to the world, and to lead something that lasts for good beyond ourselves.
